EXPECTED STATUS CODES AND TIMEOUTS

Tell UPGURU which answer counts as working and how long to wait for it.

1

Expected status code

Every answer from a web server comes with a code: 200 means OK, 301 a redirect, 404 not found, 500 a server error. Expected Status decides when we alert you:

  • •200 (the default) — alert on any other answer.
  • •Another code, e.g. 204 — for an API that answers with it on purpose.
  • •0 — accept any success (2xx) or redirect (3xx).
The uptime numbers and the Online/Down badge always count 2xx and 3xx answers as working, whatever you set here. The expected code only changes when you get an alert.
2

Redirects

We follow redirects, so http:// to https:// or a move to www. is fine. The code that counts is the one of the page you end up on.

3

Timeout

Timeout (seconds) is how long we wait for an answer; 30 seconds by default. A site that takes longer is counted as down, shown as HTTP timeout. Lower it if a slow page is a problem for you too — 10 seconds is a good value for most sites.
